Contract services Specialist Services.....

John Stanley’s provides specialist care support for individuals within their local community.  Our services can either be autonomous or compliment the role of social services, relatives, friends and other support.

We provide personal, practical, emotional and social support whilst ensuring privacy and dignity.  We will encourage and promote self-determination and be respectful of the Service Users own choices and personal beliefs at all times.

The care we provide is person centred to ensure that each individual has a service designed to meet his or her specific needs.  All care we provide is monitored and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that relevant outcomes are achieved.  We have an understanding of essential continuity of service and staff provision.

We are proud to offer services not traditionally provided by the private sector.  With rapidly changing government legislation and yet more demands on all care related roles, we hope to be able to take independence and pro-active care opportunities a stage further.

We can provide specific and highly trained dedicated Care Support Workers to support complex and highly dependent Service Users.  Specialist and intensive care support is available for the following Service Users:-

  • Individuals with severe and complex disabilities including challenging behaviour
  • Individuals who have brain injury and related conditions
  • People who require spinal care
  • Care Support for holistic palliative care
  • Mental Health support and crisis support
  • Bereavement and loss support
  • Dementia support and coping strategies including reminiscence sessions
  • Toe nail cutting services
  • Bathing Service
  • Hairdressing and personal grooming
  • Support in seeking alternative therapies
  • Dedicated activity Support Worker

Hospital Discharge to Home Support Service

This service provides a support network for individuals who may be vulnerable following discharge from hospital.

Our team of experienced care workers can meet individuals, either at the hospital to assist them in the transition from hospital to home or when they arrive home.  We aim to support individuals with decreased mobility following initial discharge from hospital.

We can provide twenty-four hour care for up to two weeks. If individuals require extra care after this period we can provide support with other services that we offer for example, night care or live-in care.

Night Care

We have a team of Support Workers who are able to stay within the home during the night.  Depending on the person’s preferences and needs, we able to provide a “Waking night” (worker remains awake through the night) or a “sleeping night” (worker sleeps throughout the night, but is available for support should it be needed).

Peripatetic Care

We are able to provide teams of experienced staff for peripatetic support and also for individuals in a waking or sleeping night capacity to assist with a variety of care needs.

Pop In Care

Our Pop In Service is designed to help Service Users who do not need the traditional block of 30 minutes to one hour of home care.  In some cases a reassuring quick visit from a care worker to ensure all is well can be sufficient. The care worker will ensure the Service User has managed to wash, dress, undress or any other task in preparation for their day or night ahead. Our Pop In Service can also be arranged to call into any Service User whose only requirement is to assist with their medication.  We may also be called upon with little or short notice to assist with unpredictable task such as toileting.

Our Care Workers are required to report any decline in the Service Users health or ability to undertake basic tasks.  In this event, any extra care required can be arranged quickly.

Equally the service may be used until full independence or recovery is made or until an acceptable level of confidence and independence is achieved.

Blitz

For various reasons an individual’s living environment can sometimes be neglected at a safe and hygienic standard.   This often causes various and complex problems to the individual, family members, care providers and neighbours.  We have a dedicated and experienced team of staff who are able to approach the situation with understanding, tact and efficiency.

Each situation is assessed individually and a quote will be provided to include a full and wide range of support including:

*  A thorough clean to restore a healthy and hygienic environment
*   Re-establishment of the home i.e. items stored or placed in the appropriate area
*   Safe removal of unwanted items and rubbish (with the Service Users consent)
*   Appropriate pest control companies contacted
*   Replacing or purchasing essential living items i.e. beds, bedding, cooking facilities, cutlery, crockery, curtains, towels etc
*   Refurbishment – including carpets, floor coverings and décor
*   Garden safety – path clearing and rubbish removal

We can also assist with co-ordinating relocation and small home removals.

We would recommend an on-going “Home Help” service either on a weekly basis or a fortnightly basis to maintain the standards achieved through a Blitz.

Our latest inspection took place on 30th January 2007 and the subsequent report was highly commendable. Our Inspection Reports in respect of both branches can be downloaded from CSCI.

In addition we provide specialist services to various Primary Care Trust’s and Health Authorities.   In July 2006 we were awarded a Local Authority Contract to provide domiciliary care within the Thurrock Area and we currently provide care support to individuals commissioned through Social Services. We have a strong commitment to those who work for us and are proud of our ‘Investors in People Award’ reflecting this.
